Dear Flist,
I am in a quandary.
On the one hand, I don't like reading political posts on my flist. I don't like the idea of making them, myself. I don't want to go imposing my ideas on anyone else.
On the other hand, I firmly believe that our country needs to be taken in a better direction. And I believe that Obama is our best chance of getting that. And I regret not having done better in '04. It was a close race. In the time since the race, nearly half of the people who voted for Bush have decided that they no longer approve of him. If even a small fraction of them had only realized sooner, things would have been very different. If people like me, had spoken more frequently and effectively, maybe it would have been enough.
Then again, how likely am I to change your minds? If you don't already agree, that is? And what about the significant portion of you who don't even live in the US?
Yes, it is my journal and I can talk about whatever I want. But I need help figuring out what's right.
Thoughts?

I never talked about politics until this year for those very same reasons. Didn't want to "impose" my views on others, either. And in a way I still don't want to. But if things in this country don't change soon, we're going to be worse off than ever.

Go ahead and write for what you believe in or what you want to express. If you feel people might not want to listen to it, there's always lj-cuts.

If you want to write about politics and your political views and express a certain viewpoint on life or whatever else you might have on your mind, I'm of the faction that says, "Fine, do what suits you."
Other people are not required to read your views or respond to them same as you're not required to read other peoples' views or respond to them if you so choose. So I say go for it. :)
