I was thinking about the Dark Side having Dark cookies. Then I looked in the bread drawer and saw that we had a new package of Oreos. Then I went to sleep. When I woke up, I found I had a sudden desire to make a TIE fighter out of Oreos.

Then I figured that there are a billion other people on the Internet, and they've had plenty of time. Someone else has to have done it by now. So I did a Google search and a Google Images search. I found some neat Star Wars cakes and some even neater Star Wars cupcakes and even a Death Star cookie jar (hey, that rhymes!)... but no sign of a TIE fighter built out of Oreos. Sure, they're round instead of hexagonal, but they'd still make fairly good panels. Not sure what you'd do about the cockpit, though. Unless you scaled the whole thing up... Hmm...

I haven't seen either. :( They just never play that stuff on TV! And I don't make a habit of renting or downloading movies. :(

Do I get any points for knowing about

"Luke, I am your father."

and

"My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

?

(typed them by memory, hope I got them right. :x)

Oh my. This must be fixed.

Yes, you know the lines (and got them right), but you don't know what they really mean.

If you don't want to download (for ethical reasons?), can you not rent? Whatever the local equivalents of Blockbuster or Netflix are?

It's not ethical reasons. :x I just can't be bothered. I suppose I could find them at a video rental.

(I wonder what the Greek title for "The Princess Bride" is! It either doesn't really exist, or it's very well-known but irrelevant to the English title so I never made the connection.)

I'll keep those movies in mind to watch with John sometime. There's a video at the place where we usually hang out... hm.

According to IMDB, the Greek title is Treles istories erota kai fantasias.

If you like, I can get you a copy.

But that still doesn't solve the Star Wars issue. So... yeah. Video store. Snuggle up with John and some popcorn and have yourselves a nice little marathon. :)

Will do! We'll go to a videoclub and see what we can dig up. :)

N00by question, which episode of Star Wars are we supposed to watch first? IV? I know IV came out first.

As for The Princess Bride... the Greek title translates as "Crazy stories of love and fantasy". No princesses or brides. And I've never heard of it under that title either. Will keep it in mind though and see if I can find it :)

Thanks for the lessons in geek! ♥

Good luck. :)

I'd suggest starting with IV.

Princess Bride is based on a book by the same name. (The book has some bits that didn't make it to the movie, and is well worth the read by itself. The movie also added some bits that weren't in the book.) But yeah, "a crazy story of love and fantasy" (not sure why it's pluralized) fits the movie just as well as "Princess Bride."

And you're welcome. Anytime. :)

*giggles* You don't get *geek* cred from having a lab coat--that's nerd cred! Nerds are the ones with the academic knowledge and brilliance. Which you have. :) You also are a bit of a geek per the Superman stuff. Geek cred gets built through specialized knowledge of specific fandoms and specialties. It also can't really have much to do with school stuff. That's saved for nerdity. *g*

When it comes to Star Wars, I must concede that is one of the classic geek things to experience just so you can get all the references and such. I've seen all six--once. That was only in the last year, thanks to my ex-fiancé, who was determined that I should see them. It's helpful in that I get a lot of inside jokes and references now. On the other hand, I didn't think they were THAT great of movies, and don't plan on re-watching ever. Really not my thing at all. (Probably doesn't help that I don't *like* alien creatures. Humans and animals only, here.)

As for Princess Bride, I actually think that movie isn't nearly as important as Paul does. You can be a perfectly fine geek without EVER watching it. It's merely making fun of a bunch of other movies--and it's not even that amusing to watch, at least to me. I thought it was the dumbest movie I have ever seen, and that's saying a lot. At least with Grizzy Mountain (a stupid kids' movie that was atrociously done), one could sit and critique the moviemakers' mistakes in directing, the bad acting, etc. In Princess Bride, the acting is just good enough that you can't even criticize it--yet the story is so dumb, and the things they say so stupid, that I didn't even find it amusing at all. I am quite glad now that I don't remember much of the movie, and will not be at all sorry if I forget nearly all of it! Not worth storing in any of my brain cells, is my final word on that one. ;)
