1. YES! We're in Open Beta! IRC is going nuts. I'm going nuts. WHEEE!!! WOOHOOO!!!
2. I GOT THE VERY FIRST SEED ACCOUNT!! YES!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! WHEEEEEEEHOOOOOOO!!!!
3. In other, calmer news, I think I figured out the Tooth Fairy thing. I'm going to find a wishing well/fountain. One where the coins collected go to a good cause. And use the Tooth Fairy coins to wish for... something. Have to figure it out. And couldn't tell you, anyway. (But anyone know where there is one? In the NY/NJ area?)
4. I GOT THE VERY FIRST PAID DW ACCOUNT!!!
5. Can't talk anymore. Brain exploding with squee.
ETA: 6. 10 mins in, and shop reports less than 50 seed accounts remaining. Holy frak.
ETA AGAIN: 20 mins in, and fewer than 10 remaining. Despite the PayPal issues. Wow.

Seed are, from the dev's POV, a necessary evil. But for me, it's shiny and perfect. I want to help the site get off the ground, I want the shiny prestige, and I tend not to make much use of paid features. Though maybe now that I have the account, that'll change...

But YEAH! It's Open Beta Time!

And I was a little tricky. I was beta testing the shop system yesterday, so I got to open the link a little early.
Now, though, there are apparently some issues going on. Over 80 support requests. PayPay being unexpectedly finicky or something. Devs are scrambling. It'll work out when the dust settles. Somehow.
Anyway... Congrats!! :)
And whee!!! Open Beta Time!!

Thanks for doing this. Do you want to come up with your own general poll or do you want me to come up with something?

Yay for seed account tho! If I can do my conversions right, I think I've got another hour and half to contemplate the fact that I cannot afford to spend $200 on a seed account, after which, it becomes rather a moot point.
*sigh* Never mind. I have a permanent LJ, and as someone pointed out it'll be ~5 years (if I've remembered paid/premium prices) before paid DW account equals the cost of a seed account, and if I'm still here at that point, then the service will have won me over enough that I'll want to keep giving them money. (My main problem with pais/premium accounts is the same problem I have with the concept of renting a house - it's omg crazy to continually keep shelling out money to have nothing at the end of it!! (Yes, you'll have had shelter for all the years you rented, and yes, you'll still have a free basic account. I did not say my logic made sense!! *g*))

But, due to those aforementioned errors, another 200 will be going on sale next week.
There isn't really so much of an advantage to seed except for the prestige. And yeah, the long-term savings. (And, for me, the satisfaction of helping get the site off the ground.)
Can't help you with the mental block issue. Other than to say that you're paying for the feature set. The entertainment value of it. The ability to do more with the site. And also to help keep the site running so you can actually use it. Because no ads means that DW is entirely dependent on paid users to survive. So, really, what you're paying for is the existence of your journal and your friends' journals.
In any case... yes, I'm officially awesome. ;)
