Got a message from grouply.com (which I'd never heard of before) that someone named "Laura Hale" wanted to friend me there. Message said that she'd found me through the L&C ficlist.

So I googled her name and found this and this, among other things.

In short, it seems Laura is trying to make money off fandom, and she's used some less than upstanding means to do it.

Ah, yes, I remember her. There was a big flamestorm back in July. She was fandom's public enemy number one for a bit. There were lots and lots of links on metafandom.

She did email the L&C ficlist a while ago, iirc. Asked for history. Got a rather bitter and one-sided diatribe on the split, and never came back again ;)
