You all know the rules by now. For maximum fun, I suggest you read first, guess as best you can, post, and only then see what everyone else has said. But... whatever works for you.
Skipping those that have come up before. (Can you believe it? Strwaberry Fields came up second again... And tenth, too! WMP must love that song, even though I hardly play it anymore...) Also, it's kind of annoying when your favorite lyric is the title of the song. Happens far too often with me.
1.Some boys try and some boys lie, but I don't let them play. (No way, no way!) Only boys that save their pennies make my rainy day... (brianamj and vigii)
2. (This one's a little obscure, I think, so I'll give you two.)
It's a never-ending attack. Everything's a lie, and that's a fact.
Later: What about your gods? They're defective! They forgot the warentee! (brianamj)
3.Sitting on the sofa on a Sunday afternoon. Listning to the candidates debate. Laugh about it, shout about it when you've got to choose. Any way you look at it, you lose. (vigii)
No one?
What if I add a bonus line?
"Hide it in a hiding place where no one ever goes. Put it in your pantry with the cupcakes..."
4.Let me reach, let me beach, on the shores of Tripoli. Let me sail, let me sail, let me crash upon your shore... (brianamj and kaylle)
5.One man caught on a barbed wire fence. One man, he resists. One man washed on an empty beach. One man betrayed with a kiss... (kaylle)
6.How could she say to me "love will find a way?" Gather 'round, all you clowns, let me hear you say... (Hint: There are two others songs by the same band on this list.) (vigii)
7.Her name was Magill, she called herself Lil, but everyone knew her as Nancy... (kaylle)
8.I told that girl I could start right away. She said, "Listen, babe, I've got something to say. I've got no car, and it's breakin' my heart... But I found a driver, and that's a start!" (kaylle)
9. Have you ever had the odds go so high, you need a strength you just don't possess? Or has it ever come down to do or die, you've got to rise above the rest? No? Well... (Can't think of a good hint here. The rest of the chorus has the title all over it, and the band was one of those late 90s one-hit wonders.)
10.I can go where no one else can go, I know what no one else knows. Here I am just a-drownin' in the rain... (ksarasara got the title and some bonus lyrics, but the wrong band. brianamj got the band.)
11. All I want is someone I can't even resist. I know all I need to know by the way that I got kissed... (Hint, from a bit later in the song: "... now I'm dying to forget you. Your love is sweet misery...")
12.I must be strong, and carry on. Because I know I don't belong here in heaven... (kaylle and ksarasara)
13.There is freedom within. There is freedom without. Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup... (kaylle and vigii... vigii named the original band, who made the version I have, and kaylle named the band who covered it. But, really, since we're only guessing based on lyrics, knowing the cover band should count just as much.)
14.Don't throw your hand. Oh, now. Don't throw your hand. When you feel like you're alone. No, no, no. You're not alone. (annabtg)
15.Dsarlin', won't you ease my worried mind? (annabtg and kaylle)
16.Conversation has a time and place in the interaction of a lover and a mate, but the time of talking, using symbols, using words, can be likened to a deep sea diver who was swimming with a raincoat. (kaylle)
17.So I turn the radio on, I turn the radio up, and this woman was singing my song. Lovers in love, and the others run away. Lover is cryin' 'cuz the other won't stay. Somebody's hoverin', waitin' for the other, who was dyin' since the day they were born... Well, well, this is not that. (ksarasara, who gets bonus points for naming the original band and the album on which the song was first released)
18. If you're goin' my way, I want to drive it all night long... (kaylle got the title, but not the artist)
19. Hang on to your hopes, my friend. That's an easy thing to say, but if your hopes should pass away, simply pretend that you can build them again... (Hint: The band has been named, though with the wrong number next to them...)
20.Everybody needs somebody to love. (Mother, mother...) Everybody needs somebody to hate. (Please believe me...) Everybody's bitching 'cause they can't get enough and it's hard to hold on when there's no one to lean on... (vigii)
Well, hopefully that won't be too bad. There are some where I had to go out of my way to avoid the title (which is repeated in the lyrics fairly often). There are a couple of bands I had to look up. Less variety than I might have liked, too, but... oh well. I played by the rules. No skipping unless (a) it's come up before (b) it's not actually a song. Let's see what you can do. :)
