Okay, flist...

I've got a few L&C vid ideas that have been sitting on my "to-do" list for quite a while now. I have general ideas of what to do with them, but just haven't been able to motivate myself to actually get started.

What should I do about that?

Post the song titles here (perhaps in an flocked post) and see what you guys think?

Pass the suggestions along, see if anyone feels like doing them?

Try working with someone (and seeing if I can get them to do all the heavy clip-finding work... ;) )?

Leave them on the "to-do" list, and see if I ever find the motivation?

Forget about them?

Something else? (And no, sorry, "Just knuckle down and do them!" is not an option.)

Any thoughts/suggestions?

I think "forgetting about them" would be a real shame...

Sometimes, sharing ideas can help - at least it usually does for me - in figuring out where to go from your original concept and how to finish the project. I often just start typing in someone's MSN window (usually the same someone *lol*) and while I'm telling her my ideas, things start jumping out at me. Discussing ideas - unless you're trying to go for the surprise factor and you don't want to spoil that for people - can be a productive approach to a project.

Passing the suggestion along... well, that's one idea, but in my own experience, it can come with a certain degree of disappointment because the result might not be what you had in mind. It depends how attached to the original idea you were, to begin with.

Working with someone can be a lot of fun. Especially if you can find someone who'll share your "vision" for the song (or your sense of humor, I suppose). Also, if you share your list of songs, then perhaps you'd find that someone else might have ideas for that too and that could lead to a collaborative work.

As for seeing if you can get someone else to find the clips, well, hey, that's what friends are for -- I spend hours harassing Jessi with idiotic questions like "is there a clip somewhere that has Superman using his X-Ray vision?" *lol* Two or more heads are always better than one for this sort of thing - some people will remember scenes or details better than others. I'd never have finished anything if I'd tried to find all of these by myself. All my vids are basically team efforts. hehe!

Whatever you decide you want to do in the end, I'm sure you'll find plenty of people who'll be more than happy to help out. (You know where to find me if you need me, anyway -- usually around and always glad to answer questions instead of watching my other machine running automated tests... *lol*)

Hmmm!

You can break the list down, to songs that you WANNA WANNA do, and songs you just wanna see done.

And you can also work with someone, or just bribe someone who is very bored and always wanting more clips anyways to get them for you.

No forgetting them, though! That would be diabolical!

Well, Lara may be doing two of them (with maybe some help and suggestions from me). And I just posted the other two on the boards. We'll see if anyone picks them up.

I just... haven't been in the mood. Too tired and stuff. And the two I posted... I had the ideas for them, but they're not really my sort of thing to do, you know? So, we'll see.

But thanks for the response. And hopefully, something will come of the ideas, even if I don't do them myself...

Seriously. I'm not entirely certain how, but I think it could work. It certainly fits her, you know?

So... pondery, huh? Well, let me just subtly encourage that pondering... ;) (If you need suggestions, I might be able to help...)

As for clips... I have all the eps on a portable drive. It's a matter of digging and finding and doing the painstaking work of cutting them and putting them in place... I'm too tired and messed up to be doing that sort of thing. So, instead, I'll just encourage you to keep pondering. ;)

Can't give you a proper advice on that as I'm suffering from the same. There are two songs that I'd like to do, I started a trailer some weeks ago and there's a half-done song sitting on my hard drive for more than half a year now :(

So... if you find a good solution, I'm always glad to hear it ;)

lol, well, I seem to have found a solution of sorts. Mentioned the ideas to Lara, and she liked 2 of them. The other two, well... For now, I posted them to the boards. We'll see what comes of that.

So, basically, as Garfield once said... "Never put off 'til tomorrow what you can have someone else do for you today." ;)

And hey, it's not an unnecessary comment. Always nice to know someone's reading and interested.

And, ooooh - I really like the Savage Garden one... haven't heard the song before but the lyrics look promising :D
And, you know... this is really mean... I'm already so fed up with my own uncreativity, I shouldn't look in a thread with new challenges... stupid me!

Beware, the songs going on and on in my head are all *very* girly...
There's "Come to my window" by Melissa Etheridge... and I try to tell myself that the beautiful song is not the only reason I wanna do this but also because it could make a nice vid. Just not really convinced yet :P
Furthermore "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks would be really cool. It's already been done (by Andrea if I'm not mistaken)... and normally I'm not really a fan of re-doing a song. But I love it and it's just so Lois ;)

And there's "How am I supposed to live without you" by Michael Bolton which I started to work on with Lara... in September I think... ahum... I didn't really go past the first verse. And it bugs me because I think it could be all sweet and waffy and sickenly romantic and stuff.

BTW, I meant to ask a couple of times now but always forgot: Do you have some instant messenger? I'm pretty attached to MSN but certainly able to be flexible :)

Savage Garden? Well, I was already mean enough to encourage Cat on that one, so I'll ever so subtlety encourage you, too... ;)

Have to agree with you on Bitch, too.

Not so much a fan of Bolton. But it'd go over well with others. I think that song inspired more than its share of songfics, back in the days before vids. That and the Titanic theme...

I used to spend all day on ICQ and for some time I played around with Trillian which was neat when I had friends with other apps. Now about everybody is on MSN ;)
But if I don't forget, I'll try to re-animate my AIM account sometime soon :)
