Song Meme!

Yes, I'm late doing this, but that just means the fun lasts longer! (There should be a rule that you can't start yours until the previous one has been officially closed. Or maybe not. It's a thought, anyway. ... But hey! You have a big enough playlist, there's no reason you can't play again, get a different list...)

Oh, right. The actual meme.

Step 1: Open up whatever MP3 program you use and add every song in your collection.
Step 2: Put it on random.
Step 3: Pick your favorite lines from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 4: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 5: Cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 6: DON'T GOOGLE THEM.


(As with others, the quoted lines aren't always my favorites. I try, but I can't make things too easy for you guys. Not to mention that my favorite thing about a lot of songs is the tune. I long ago got out of the habit of actually listening to lyrics. All too often, they ruin the whole thing for me.

(Hint: I didn't know the artist on this one. I just knew it from a movie...)

6. (Okay, this one's going to be really easy, but there's no other choice...)
Shot through the heart, and you're to blame! psychofurball, ksarasara, brianamj, half credit to kaylle for getting the band and the other half to bananabelcher for (unknowingly!) getting the title! Go team! :D

7. Let's not do the wrong thing, and I'll swear it might be fun. It's a long way down when all the knots we've tied have come undone... (Hint: The band is a little obscure, but bananabelcher has at least heard of them.)

8. (Again, there isn't a real choice here...)
Let's go surfin' now, everybody's learnin' how. Come on and safari with me... brianamj, bananabelcher, kaylle, and 3/4 credit to ksarasara for almost getting the title.

(Incidentally, this song will always make me think of Hawaii. Sitting at the airport with my sisters, I played this song on my spiffy new portable CD player. It only seemed right. It was the first thing I remember hearing after we landed.)

13. Mama tells me I shouldn't bother, that I should just stick to another man, a man who surely deserves me... But I think you do. (Hint: Next line, I guess... "So, I cried, I prayed, and I begged. Love, me love me. Say that you love me...") ksarasara

14. So gather up your jackets, move out to the exits. I hope you have found a friend... (Half credit to bananabelcher and kaylle for getting the title.)

15. Laughin' and a-running (hey, hey), skippin' and a-jumpin', in the misty morning fog with, ah, our hearts a-thumpin'... bananabelcher, plus full credit to ksarasara and kaylle, since, even though neither one of them knew the artist, I must admit that I didn't, either.

16. You planned a trip, to Idaho, just to watch potatoes grow... No one on this? Really? Hmm... Well, if you don't recognize a parody song involving potatoes, I don't know what to tell you. (3/4 credit to ksarasara for getting the artist and part of the title.

17. You say you'll give me a highway with no one on it. Treasure, just to look upon it. All the riches in the land... No one on this, either? Now I'm really surprised. (Hint: A bit later... "But all the promises we break, from the cradle to the grave...")

18. They gave you life, and in return you gave them hell. As cold as ice, I hope we live to tell the tale... psychofurball

19. Is there anybody trying to get through? My eye's so cloudy, I can't see you... Look now, look all around. There's no sign of life. Voices and other sounds. Can you hear me now? (Hint: This was also on SSAOS)

20. And I walk these streets, a loaded six-string on my back. I play for keeps, because I might not make it back. I've been everywhere, and still I'm standing tall. I've seen a million faces, and I've rocked them all! ksarasara

(Since most of them have been called already, I'll probably post the answers soon. Tomorrow night, most likely. Then, later, since we're having so much fun, I'll probably do Round II. For now, though, there are a couple more active ones on my flist, so it's all good.)

Curiostiy got the better of me, so I studied it some more, but finally had to cheat and google it. The song I vidded is actually the only song I know by them, so I never would have gotten it. I should dl some stuff by them though. Discovering new-old bands is always fun. :))
