Ask me anything, and you will get an answer. Ask about me, ask about something you think I might know, ask... anything. Seriously or otherwise. Whatever you want. You will get an answer. In most cases, that answer will have something to do with the question. In some cases, it may even make sense! (I'll do my best, anyway. Depending on the question.)

You can ask me directly, or, if you've got a quarter handy, you can ask my buddy...

Re: OT - comment test

PS Sorry to spam you now, but... I've gotten comment reply notification emails for all of these, even though I use the same address for AIM and this LJ. And the ones above were posted as replies to myself.

Meantime, I tried to use Yahoo as my OID, and it wouldn't let me. Yahoo says that LJ's OID version is too old, and not backwards-compatible with Yahoo's v 2.0.

Re: OT - comment test

Oh, wait. NM. My LJ email is at netscape.net, but AOL's OID is probably using at aim.com. The two addresses are functionally the same, but LJ has no way to know that.

Re: OT - comment test

Oh hey, I didn't have comment emails set up for my myopenid account, so I didn't see all this until now. Thanks for testing all this!

So. Weird. I'll try posting another link from openID in a second.

Re: OT - comment test

innnnnteresting.

it looks like I can post links if I'm logged in as the OID - but not if I'm logged into my LJ and choose the post-as-OID-but-don't-log-in option in the comment form.

Strange. I don't think that should happen, and it's got to be an LJ problem.

Re: OT - comment test

Ok, so what if I'm stellar_dust, choose OpenID, and DO choose to re-login as the OID?

funny picture is still funny! (http://icanhascheezburger.com/2008/03/20/funny-pictures-dats-mai-netwurk/)

ooh, what if I post the picture??

Re: OT - comment test

So that worked.

the problem's not choosing to log in to the OID, I guess.

that could get annoying!

oh, just for the heck of it .. (http://www.google.com)

Re: OT - comment test

So, what if I'm not logged in at all and post a comment as IOD without logging in?

this blog rocks. (http://io9.com/)

Re: OT - comment test

Just tried one last time to be sure, and yep, it looks like that's it - I can't post a link as an openID *while* logged in to my LJ.

Probably the two different logins are running into each other somehow during the captcha verification. Or something.

It's probably a bug ... probably should report it somewhere.

I wonder if it does the same on other platforms? *makes mental note to test this on IJ later*

Re: OT - comment test

Glad to help, glad to learn. And yes, that is a funny picture.

What's also funny (but in a different way) is that I could see the picture just fine in the comment notification email, but when I came here, it showed up as a strange little icon which seems confusing at first but is apparently intended to say "click here to view a picture in another window." Except, that when I click it, I see the picture in this window (possibly because of the way I have FF set up to handle links).

Looks like another safety measure. Just as they won't let you post actual clickable links, they won't let you directly post pictures. If you're not a registered LJ user, they just don't trust you.

Do let me know how the other tests work out. You can try blogger.com, too, if you know anyone there. They just recently started accepting OIDs.

And... time to get moving. Strike in 2 hours!
