This is kind of out there, but bear with me...
There are 52 weeks in a year.
There are also 52 cards in a deck.
The latter is important because it tells us something. There are 4 suits in a deck. 52 is evenly divisible by 4.
In fact, 4 * 13 = 52.
So...
If we had 13 months, each one would be exactly 4 weeks (28 days) long. Every month would start on Sunday. The 8th of every month would also be Sunday. You'd know exactly what day of the week every day of the month would be, and it would be the same for every single month in the year. You also wouldn't have to sit there trying to remember if this month has 30 days or 31.
While we're at it, we could rename the months so that they'd make sense. We wouldn't have to have October (latin for "8th month) as the 10th month of the year.
Everything would be so much simpler.
Now, of course, there are 7 days in a week. 52 * 7 = 364. This would leave us with one extra day.
... Yay!
*poof* New Year's Day is now an international holiday, set aside for fun and celebration, not part of any month.
Look at that. Months neatly organized. Days that make sense. The same weeks everyone's used to, and we get a free holiday out of it!
Now, if only there was any actual chance of convincing the world to go metric...

You'd know exactly what day of the week every day of the month would be, and it would be the same for every single month in the year.
But that means that, say, one's birthday will always fall on the same day. That's sad. *g* Same for holidays. Here they don't always are the same day each year (like your Thanksgiving, for example, which is always a Thursday, if I'm not mistaken). Just the other day I was checking next year's calendar and I was happy to see that almost every Italian holiday will be one day before or after a Sunday, thus letting me get two consecutive days off. *g*
Other than that, nice thinking. And I agree with Sara, let's get rid of Daylight Saving Time! I can't stand it. :P

Bdays... Yeah. It is a little sad. I'd thought of that. Especially if you get stuck having a bday on a Tuesday every year. But you could celebrate it that weekend or something.
Here in the US, we have a few holidays that are always the same day of the week. Often a Monday to ensure a 3-day weekend. But Thanksgiving is always on a Thursday, and the next day has now become known as "Black Friday" because it kicks off the xmas shopping season. It's such a big shopping day that, for many stores, that one day is what puts them in the black (as opposed to red ink, which on an accountant's ledger stands for being in debt).
The major problem with the whole deal would be the conversion. Figuring out what day translates to what day of the "new calendar." Christmas, for example, would end up being at the beginning of the 13th month, which might be kind of weird for a while...
As for Daylight Savings... it was a good idea for a while there, but I don't think it has modern relevance. And, actually, there have been studies that show the time change causes an increase in car accidents. So, yeah. I'm all for getting rid of that.
