Friend who was dying of cancer is not yet dead! Her prognosis seems to change by the day. Still, I'm glad I went. It did us both good.
Thing is that their income is very limited right now. With her that sick and a toddler running around, a job just isn't possible. Household income is mostly from disability, but it's now being supplemented by sales commissions.
If you're in the US and would like to buy makeup, lotions, jewelry, or the like, you can shop at their Avon page.
If you'd like some scented wax (sort of like a cross between scented candles and plug-in room fresheners), scented stuffed animals, and other such smelly things, you can browse the Scentsy page.
They won't take donations, but every sales commission helps. Signal boosting appreciated. They're good people, and this is the only way I have to help them.
Tuesday night: Slept 9.4 hours. Woke up after the Xyrem wore off, both times. AHI 2.7
Wed: My connecting flight was delayed due to thunderstorms. Didn't get to the hotel until 1am. Slept poorly. (I always sleep poorly my first night in a new bed. And there was the disruption in my schedule from going to bed so late when I was actually dayshifted. And, of course, thinking about visiting a friend who was dying in the hospital.) Woke up frequently. Slept 6.9 hours. AHI 2.5.
Thu: Middle of the night dosage alarm woke me from a dream. 8.7 hours. AHI 1.7.
Fri: Slept a couple of hours. Trouble getting back to sleep. (Perhaps due to daytime caffeine to deal with lack of sleep from previous two nights.) Slept 5 hours until alarm (to wake me up for breakfast and so I could get to the hospital). 7.6 total. AHI 1.4.
Sat: Flew home. Unpacked, took care of some things I'd put off while away, repacked. Set an alarm so I could get up to fly out for the family trip we'd had planned long before my sudden departure for the hospital visit. Slept 6.4 hours. AHI 2.0.
Sun: Slept 4 hours, woke up to take second dose. Felt like I couldn't get back to sleep. After what seemed like half an hour, I checked the clock. It'd been 4 hours. Must have been drifting in and out. Don't think I got any deep sleep. Was awake for an hour after that. Managed to drift off again, dozing for another hour. Total logged time: 9.6. AHI 1.6.
Mon (last night): Slept reasonably well for 4 hours. Alarm woke me. Up for a short while, managed to get back to sleep. Woke a couple times. Once with apnea dream (the dream ended suddenly with the feeling that I was holding my breath, and I was instantly wide awake). Drifted last hour. Total hours: 9.9. AHI... 8.6??! Maybe it's the altitude. Sunday night was in Denver, but I'm up in the mountains for the rest of the week. Less oxygen, thinner air. Maybe the machine needs to be adjusted?
Sleep doc still hasn't called me back. I need to know if she's taken care of the insurance paperwork, when I'm supposed to see her again, and why my apnea last night was so much worse than it's been in ages. Tried calling just now, but no one picked up. Will try again in a bit. Maybe it's lunch break?
ETA: Insurance denied the Xyrem. Doc is working on it.
