1. My grandfather was a dentist. He retired decades ago. I think before I was born. When I was a child, he moved to NJ to be near us. More than a decade after that, he moved in with us. He died three years ago. (This past weekend was the anniversary.)
Today, out of the blue, we received a box addressed to him from a dental supply company. It contained a few dozen little boxes with sample-sized tubes of toothpaste. The kind dentists give out in their offices when you come for a cleaning.
No idea why. Or how they got the address. (We did get a similar box two years ago, which was also never explained. But nothing since. And I don't think we ever got any while he was alive.)
I'd say it was toothpaste from Heaven, but he was a staunch atheist.
2. For those keeping track, I'm still pretty much flat out. Got over the cold, but then slept poorly for various reasons or no reason at all. No idea what else is up. But every time I start to feel better, something happens to screw it all up again. Spent most of the last couple of weeks on the couch. I keep falling behind on Twitter and stuff because I'm not even feeling up to sitting up in front of the computer for long.
3. We leave tomorrow for MA, per my sister's request. Should be interesting. But hopefully fun.
4. To all celebrating it... have a happy (and not too painful) Thanksgiving! :)
