*sigh* I'm torn here. (And it doesn't help that I've been unusually indecisive lately, thanks to strong allergies, poor sleep, and stuff.)
On the one hand, I hate picking favorites. Even when I'm not feeling especially indecisive. I prefer to enjoy each thing for what it is rather than sorting through and trying to rank them or judge them against each other. I'm also not a huge meme person in general. Oh, and the fact that it seems to be rapidly spreading through my flist just triggers my iconoclastic tendencies.

kaethel. Who rarely ever posts, let alone random memes. I think this is the first time she's tagged me. In any case, although we don't speak often, I think highly of her. And, well, when a woman named for an angel asks you to do something...
Also, I see thatkb91, whom I also hold in high regard, says she's been enjoying reading these things.
So... I guess I'm doing it.
And taking the time to say "I wouldn't have done it, but when ___ tags you..." Just like half my flist. Crap.
Oh well.
WRITER'S MEME: Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of the top five favorite fics you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.
1) Topa
There isn't much to the story itself, but your first is always special, isn't it? I put a lot into that story. I researched everything I could think of. I had my family BR. I took days to write it. And I got some good FDK for it, including something from a Spanish teacher who wanted permission to distribute it to her class.
2) Steel Shadows. (My DVD fic. Not yet publicly available.)
What can I say? I'm proud of it. It's one of my longest stories. It's got plot and adventure. It's woven into the continuity of the entire show. It patches up as many plot and continuity holes as I could get my hands on. And it's tied to one of my all-time favorite stories by one of my all-time favorite writers.
3) The King of the Green City
What can I say? It was fun to write. I like the story. And it was written in my heyday. It was also one of the first stories I wrote which was nominated for a Kerth.
4) Zombies Ate My Homework
Funny, short, and sweet. I like the idea of it. I had fun with it. And it's the only story I've written that's actually won a Kerth.
5) And... I'm not sure what else to do. On the one hand, it's hard to find something to pull up that's really special to me. I don't know how to pick a full five. On the other hand, there are so many stories that I'm fond of, for one reason or another. It was hard to pick only five. So I'm going to leave it with those four...
And then start a new list with honorable mentions. ;)
Super Rap. Not because of the story itself, which was junk. But because it got singled out in an article in (the now defunct) On Magazine. They were writing about fic. How crazy fic writers are, obsessing about these shows and writing crappy stories about them. How scary it was that we had this archive dedicated to this one show with over 1500 stories on it. And it was being run by someone who went by "LabRat." And they picked out a few stories as examples of how awful it all was (and tried to hold them up as typical). And instead of finding some crappy misspelled grammarless Mary Sue (rare in L&C, but they do exist)... the author picked Super Rap. Completely missing the whole point that it was a parody and basically intended as badfic. Cracked me up.
A Purebred Superhero. My first deliberate comedy. I started with the wackiest premise I could come up with, and then tried to see what would happen if I took it (sort of) seriously. I wrote a lot of garbage back then, but I always thought that was a fun one.
Web of Steel. One of my longer fics. I'm fond of the bookends (prologue and epilog). It's got something of an A-plot, and one of my better B-plots. I put a lot of time and effort into it. I'm not sure how good it really is, objectively, but it's special to me.
One Super Date. I don't know. As I recall, it wasn't that well-recieved. I think some may have been offended by the almost caracature waitstaff at the restaurant (even though I have known people who talk and act like that, and even if they were never intended to represent any group other than stuck-up waiters in five-star restaurants). But I had a lot of fun with it. I thought it was good. And kind of original. I guess it's my underdog story. Or, no. Maybe that's Purebred... ;)
Okay... There other stories I could mention. I'm fond of a lot of them. Pretty much all of them that are more than throwaway gags or scavenger hunt nonsense or just plain badfic from early on in my career. Except Chi, Beta. Which was well-liked and even got nommed, but was such a pain to write that I don't think I'll ever really like it. All of my longer ones are special and different in some way or other. And even a few of the shorter ones. But I guess I've bent the rules far enough.
Oh, no... wait. Not yet. Because I'm tagging... No one! Most of you have been tagged by now, and I don't like tagging people anyway. Take that, meme rules! :P

(I will also mention, as a complete aside, that the LJ user KathyB is not me ... but I'm sure you'll agree that it is completely unreasonable that she should take that name and not have a real journal to go with it. Oh, yes, and I have to say that I loved both Green City and Zombies; I remember cracking up while reading both of them, but especially Zombies, which I also remember pimping out to friends I was trying to interest in the fandom. *g*

I will also mention, as a complete aside, that the LJ user KathyB is not me ...

And yes, incredibly thoughtless. And rude.
Almost as bad as that jerk on IRC who was going by HatMan and parking his nick on illegal filesharing channels and stuff. Or the series of jerks whose consistent usage of MadHatter got me to change my nick in the first place.
