Have you see this?

Production of the official World Cup ball (short version).

Apparently, there's been controversy over the thing, as the high-tech design makes it act differently (or something). A lot of people seem to hate it, for various reasons. But the production process... that is insane.

Sorry for the double comment. I got a page saying that my comment didn't get posted because Frank was eating some wires and such. Apparently, it did get through.

Yeah, had that happen to me a few times. Annoying, but not your fault.*

*But when is it going to be your fault, Sara?

What I've heard about this ball is that it's lighter.

I'm guessing you find it insane as in, too much trouble? It does seem a bit like it.

But the end result is pretty! ♥!!!

That's a lot of steps to make a ball. Quite a few of them done by hand, too. It should not be anywhere near that hard to make a ball.

It is lighter, among other things. The page where I originally saw the video claimed that, "World Cup winners and losers agree on one thing: the Jabulani, this Cup's official ball, sucks. Depending on who you ask, it's either too light, too fast, or just too damn round." It links to a fuller article on the subject.

Glad you like it, in any case. :)
