You heard of
save_dave?
The story goes like this (and I'm trusting that it's true, even though I don't know anyone directly involved): Dave is a cool guy. Dave has a cool house. Dave hosts cool get-togethers in his cool house. Dave was about to lose his house. Dave's friends secretly set up a fundraiser, auctioning stuff off and soliciting donations. It was a rousing success. They got enough money to save Dave's house and give him something of a buffer against future needs. There was much rejoicing.
All to the good. It's great. It's a touching story and I'm really glad that it had a happy ending.
(It even seems to have spun off a sequel,
rescue_rowan.)
Thing is that I won one of those auctions. It seemed cool. Winner gets something nifty and handmade by mail once a month for three months. The donor's LJ (
7rouble) seems to have been set up purely for the auction, but the auction organizer (
popelizbet) personally vouched for her. She was even introduced in the video where they told Dave.
Now,
7rouble and I exchanged a couple of PMs after the auction. I gave her my address and proof of payment and told her that I'd be out of town for a couple of weeks (in case she got started quickly).
And then... nothing.
So, fine. I waited. There was no specific timeframe mentioned and probably other stuff going on and it does take time to make stuff. No rush.
Eventually, I sent a polite little PM to check in. Our mail sometimes gets misdelivered to a street on the other side of town with a vaguely similar name. But... no response.
Well, her journal was set up just for the auction. There's only one post, and it's pretty much blank. So I sent a PM to
popelizbet asking if she had any suggestions, knew what was up, or had a better way of making contact. That was a week ago. And... no response. (Although she did mention in her journal a couple of weeks ago that she was busy with RL stuff.)
I don't know. Dave's house was saved, and that's the important bit. But I won the auction and paid for the nifty prize and now... nothing. What do I do? Suggestions, anyone?

I do not know Dave. I was not an organizer of this event. However, I bid and got my two items: one of which was wonderful and the other was touted as "homemade" but was actually from a box mix. Mixed results.

Contacting the PayPal address is a good thought. I was thinking it belonged to
Glad you got something wonderful out of it. With any luck, so will I. Eventually...
Thanks again. :)
