This is kind of interesting. Picked it up off a NASA tweet. It seems that tonight, for the first time in 20 years, we'll have a "blue moon" on New Year's Eve.

However, the phrase may not mean what you think it means. As explained in the article, the modern-day astronomical meaning of the term is the second full moon in a single month. What it used to mean (and what it still means in common conversation) is, of course, something that happens extremely rarely, if ever. The term, which originally had nothing to do with the moon, has since been applied to something that happens relatively rarely with the moon, even though it in no way involves moonlight appearing to be blue. Very odd.

But still... blue moon on New Year's. Something that happens... about once in a blue moon.

Happy New Year to those using the Roman calendar. Here's hoping that, whatever happened in 2009, 2010 is better.

There was a moon eclipse too, I heard?

Unfortunately, I heard about it too late, and I missed it. :(

Happy New Year to you too! :) ♥

Yeah. posted a pic. Very partial eclipse. But that was over Europe. No eclipse here, AFAIK.
