There was a meme going around a while back (brought to mind by a recent post from
meretia) about how the problem with the internet is that we develop all these casual connections without really getting to know people as well as we might think. I didn't respond to any of the instances where I saw it posted because, ironically enough, I didn't feel like I knew the people who posted it well enough to know what to ask.
OTOH, I'm always happy to answer questions, and I would like to develop better relationships with the people on my access/friends list. So... I can't seem to find the exact wording used in the meme, but I think you get the gist. Ask me anything. As long as it doesn't violate a confidence or something, I'll answer.

The job I was aiming for before I had to put everything on indefinite medical leave was medical equipment designer (biomechanical engineering). Insulin pumps, dialysis machines, etc.
It really is the ideal job for my personality. Mechanical design, healing, helping, in the footsteps of my father's medical career, and yet without all the messy icky medical school stuff I'd be too squeamish for.
