I was browsing the library shelves yesterday, and I came across an interesting game.*

Super Princess Peach

Turns out it was released in 2006, but this was the first I'd seen of it.

The premise looked cool. Mario and Luigi have been captured by Bowser, and it's up to Peach to save them!

Okay, it's not the most original twist ever, but still... it's about time, you know? She stops being the damsel in distress and becomes the daring rescuer.

So I took a closer look. Now, in the past, Peach has shown herself to have skills in platforming adventures (Super Mario 2), driving (Mario Kart), Tennis (Mario Tennis), martial arts (Super Smash Brothers), among other things. But are those the skills she relies on here? Nope. Peach has brand new powers for this game. Those powers?

"Emotional Vibes."

When she feels Joy, she can walk on air.

When she feels Rage, she literally burns with it, setting fire to enemies and obstacles.

When she feels Calm, she cocoons herself in a healing bubble.

When she feels Gloom(y), she cries. Her copious tears can water plants, among other things. And, while she's crying, she can run faster.

I kid you not. The princess setting out to rescue the heroes in distress does so by becoming super emotional, gaining the amazing power to run crying.

... Wow.

*Yes, my local library has video games. And DVDs. And comic books. And more!

I have this game. There's a lot of fun to be had with her "using her vibes" to accomplish her goals.
