Got back home last night. Vacation was good. Always great to be with the family, especially in our annual spot. Siblings, kids, familliar haunts... what more could you want?
I'm only home for a few days, though, as I'll be flying cross-country to visit with some friends for a week (you may have heard a thing or two about that already). That should be really cool, but I probably won't be around too much. I've got time to unpack, settle back in, and catch my breath. Then I need to start packing again...
Just hope I can keep my sleep schedule in workable shape. Managed to stay up for some portion of daytime for the last two weeks, but I'm pretty tired now. My schedule's also shifted forwards again. Fell asleep at 4am last night. Luckily, the cross-country time zone shift will help, as will friends who usually stay up late anyway. :)
Oh, and, as expected, the gaff tape held up for the ride back home. I think that comes to a total of about 1100 miles (300 mile one-way, a week in the salt air, 500 mile round trip, another week in the salt air, and now 300 mile return trip). Now we just have to find a good body shop to make more permanent repairs.
In other news, I'm training the dog to learn "left" and "right." It's hard to tell how well he knows it vs how much he's figuring out from context, but it's fun trying. I figure that, even if he is just moving in the obvious direction (to the side of the street, out of the way of the coming bike, in the direction of home, whatever), there's a chance he'll still pick it up from repeated use. The whole thing is made trickier, however, because I'm trying at the same time to teach him the difference between "to the left" and "turn left." (Mostly because I was pretty sure he'd gotten the hang of "to the left" before I started on "turn left." Now I'm slightly less sure, but I'm still working with him.)
Think that's about it for now. I should probably get going. :)
