Well, I took the plunge. I joined Twitter. You can find me @hataroni.

I will not be using LoudTwitter or anything similar to crosspost.

But it occurs to me that this is a good way to keep up in semi-realtime with people. To get a bit more human contact and all that.

It's also a good place for short random thoughts. Things that pass through the surreal mindscape in my head but don't really merit an actual blog post.

If you're reading this and want to follow, go ahead. If you don't want to, that's absolutely perfectly in all sincerity just fine.

Similarly, if you have an account, let me know. I may or may not choose to follow, as whim takes me.

The real experiment, of course, is to see if I can somehow curtail my natural verbosity.

Any suggestions on how to use the service? Clients, Firefox addons, etc?

I like Twitter. I just started using it again after taking a break from it for about a month because of depression issues. I like that about Twitter, I can take a break from it for a while and it isn't a huge deal.

I'm wyrdkat over there.

I'm rose_bee on twitter.

I post occasionally (usually via text message as I'm not allowed to go to twitter.com at work).

The bestest fun about twitter (for me) is the ability to follow the postings of my favorite celebrities. :)

I find TwitterFox works well for me.

Added you - and I'm probably to annoying addicted to TV to follow back, just fair warning. :)

Added. I'm listed as Aynber. I like TweetDeck for a computer app. It's available for both Windows and Mac. It has the ability to create groups of people, so I have one for people I know (or talk to online), one for real celebrities like Wil Wheaton, Greg Grunburg, and the cast of Stargate Universe who do their own tweets, and one for a few "character" tweeters.

Yeah, I'm using that as well, so far. (Found it on the Twitter Downloads page.) It's big, and I wish there was a better way to scroll between columns, but it does allow me to keep track of searches. I wanted to follow @maddow/#maddow, for example, and so far it seems to have the best setup for letting me do that. (Shame, tho. I wish Trillian's Twitter interface had a way to set that up...)

I added you! @alliegee (easy to remember -- same as my LJ!

I can't remember - are you a PC or a Mac? If you're a Mac, you should get a Twitter widget! I think the best thing to do is to make sure your phone is set up with your Twitter account so you can text tweets on the go!

I'm a PC. But Yahoo makes a widget engine for PCs. Not sure if I'd want to do it that way, but it's a thought.

As for phone... I don't have a texting plan. I don't text nearly enough to justify it.
