Just spent over an hour on the phone with Dell, pointlessly retrying things I'd already done. I'd called up expecting to wind up with an appointment for next business day service (which is part of my service plan). But the first person, determining that I had a laptop and was therefore a second-class citizen, transferred me over to a guy with an Indian accent and a lot of call center noise in the background. He had me run some basic diagnostics and then attempt a System Restore (both of which I'd long since tried, among other things, but if I try to boot to anything but the most basic Safe Mode, it freezes up). When that failed to help, he said he would transfer me over to the software service department. Waited on hold, got a woman with an Indian accent and slightly less call center background noise. I started talking to her, having to go back over my information and the history of the problem... only to be told (after she said that I'd probably just have to reinstall Windows again) that help from her department is a paid service, beyond the scope of my current warranty. Well... crap. I guess I'll have to reinstall Windows again, cross my fingers, and hope that it doesn't start having all sorts of stupid errors again. Think I'll see if I can get my hands on some better CDs first.

Meantime, I'm tired and crabby. Haven't slept well the last couple of nights. Hoping that's just my body readjusting to being off the pills that were screwing up my sleep. Getting pretty tired of being tired and crabby, though.

Lost a couple of DW subscribers recently. (And have hardly gotten any comments on DW or LJ.) Which is sad but understandable. I have been going over my reading page, but haven't felt like I had anything to say. I just haven't been around, haven't been a friend, and have generally been feeling, as mentioned, tired and crabby. Hoping things will get better. We'll see how it goes, I guess.

Just wanted to say -

I'm sorry I haven't been commenting much, myself. I seem to be unable to find anything substantial to say.

Take care, and good luck with the laptop!
