Wow.

History in the making.

An estimated two million people out in the freezing cold, filling the national mall all the way to the Washington Monument, with barely room for anyone to breathe. Oh, to have been among them.

And then Bush... I feel bad for him. Booed. The whole "Hey, hey, goodbye!" chant. I could understand that when they did it last night, but today... as Chris Matthews said... bad form. And the one sign... a two-person banner reading "Bush, get the hell out of here!" Wow.

But still... most stayed positive. (Even if the speeches included rebukes.) And Rick Warren called for inclusion of everyone.

And then that speech. The sun shining down on him, gleaming off his flag pin. Every word, every sentiment... beautiful. Just what we need. The right direction. The right calls. The strength, the hope, the determination. And... did you notice? No paper before him, no teleprompter... the whole thing from memory, from the heart.

*contented sigh*

I don't remember what else I was going to say. Too many points to hit. Moving on. Moving back to our ideals. Acknowledging that we are a diverse nation, not a Christian one. Working with Muslims. And other countries. Hope over fear. Calling for everyday citizens to come together and... And... and... there's too much.

Wow.

We have a PRESIDENT.

Yeah, I feel sorry for Bush just because...didn't we learn in the first grade to show a little respect, even for our enemies? I can't support Obama yet because he just hasn't had a chance to do anything as a President yet, but I'll certainly keep my tongue sheathed and keep my eyes open for tangible progress. It would be nice if we could keep our eyes open for everyone in office. I feel like half our problem is we've just become a country of whiners. It would be nice if we could rise above ourselves. And I've run out of things to say, so congratulations! History in the making indeed, and politics is going to be incredibly interesting in the next few years, so it'll definitely be exciting to be here for it!

Yeah, he deserves some respect. And so does the office. It was really in poor taste.

Good of you to be keeping an open mind. We'll see how it goes.

And yeah, here's hoping we can rise up and become better people, a better community.

Definitely going to be interesting, whatever happens from here.

Finally... thanks. :)
