DC recently put out a series of one-shot "RetroActive" comics: new stories that take place in (and are written and drawn in the style of) years past. I picked up (among others) Superman in the 90s. It was a fun story, but one panel in particular jumped out at me. It was at the top of the first page of the comic:

Lex News: A cable news channel owned by a ruthless billionaire, getting ratings by selling fear. That seems familiar somehow. Hmm.

This could explain much.

Personally, I've given up on both Fox and CNN. If I do feel compelled to get the news, I'd rather get it from Jon Stewart and/or Steve Colbert. ;)

Good call. Though I also recommend Rachel Maddow for political news. And the AP for general news. (That's where most outlets get their news anyway, and they're about as non-partisan as it gets these days.)
