I have a therapy dog!!
Tested with him today, and he did really well. (The examiner was also very happy with the way I worked with him, keeping him calm and focused.) Mom and I both passed as handlers for him.
Now we just have to wait for the paperwork to clear and we can start doing some good. For the first few times we'll have to go with a more experienced team, and we won't be able to do hospitals or kids programs for at least six months, but this will be good for all of us, I think. Meeting new people, helping make their lives better... it's something he and I both need (and Mom too, to a lesser degree). He's had so much fun just learning the ropes. Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks?
