One of the things about that whole run-around with getting my Kindle replaced was that it got me to take a look back at the place where I got it in the first place:

Brenda Novak is an author, and every year she gets people to donate stuff to her auction. All the proceeds go to support diabetes research. The auction runs for the month of May, with new items added throughout the month. The site is currently previewing some of the bigger ticket items. A few authors have donated time at their vacation homes, one will take you to tea at the Plaza Hotel in NYC, there's an iPad2, and yes, a new Kindle... there's even a $400 haircut and an African safari.
But the one I figure at least a couple of you might be interested in was a VIP pass for 4 to a taping of The Big Bang Theory.
The auction doesn't open for another couple of weeks yet, but I figured I'd post now to give you a head's up.
