Took a trip into the city today with Mom. She's been itching for it, and really needed to get out of the house and away from her latest bout of cleaning frenzy. Was nice to be out and about. Had a lovely late lunch at a little quasi-French place. Did a lot of walking around. Went to Rockefeller Center. Saw the tree and stuff. Very pretty.

And then, since we were right there, Mom decided to take a quick run through Saks Fifth Avenue.

Here's the thing: I've got fibromyalgia. Which, among many other things, means I'm all but allergic to perfume (it's a hypersensitivity to the base chemicals used to carry the scent). The Saks perfume department took up a huge chunk of floor space just inside the front door. I could not breathe until we got halfway across the store to the escalators (could not wait for the elevator) and then up two levels. I know I'm not the only one with that kind of sensitivity, either. What the heck are they thinking? The store manager will be hearing from me...

But otherwise it was a nice day out. Even got to hear some steel drum carols from a busker in the subway. Would have given him something, but he was on the other platform.

In completely other news... read about Sweden, Christmas, and Donald Duck.
