Update to the thing I mentioned a few entries back about One Touch Ultra test strips:

I emailed them for clarification. Finally heard back today. Turns out it's not new technology, and it doesn't take an average. What it does (and what it has done since 2001) is take two readings (different electrodes measuring the same sample), compare them, and return an error if they're "significantly different" (for some unspecified value of "significant"). Ah well. Still, it's something. And it's encouraging that they've finally deemed it worth advertising. Maybe that heralds a movement in the right direction.
