I've been told I need to update this journal more often, so let's give this thing a shot. Gonna be a bit random, but better than nothing, no?

I'm going to be in Florida for the next few days. Going to my cousin's Bat Mitzvah. I have 21 first cousins, and we're getting towards the end of the list. (Of course, we'll have weddings and stuff down the road...)

Her older brother and his band will be providing the background music for the family party. Should be... interesting.

Anyway, we'll spend a couple of days on the east coast of Florida, see the family, etc. At the least, it'll be an opportunity to hang out with my sisters and their families, which is something that doesn't happen as often as it should.

After the party, we'll drive across to stay with my grandpa for a bit. Should be nice and relaxing.

Of course, net access during this time will be limited, so don't be surprised if I'm not around too much.

The important thing is that my VCR is set to record SciFi Friday. I just saw last week's episodes yesterday. Not the best, but considerably better than the previous week's (true of all three shows, I think. Except for Atlantis, maybe. Reasonably good eps both weeks, I guess). Hopefully I'll have some good stuff waiting for me when I get home.

Finally, I came up with a new* word a little while ago: "Obsol33t."

I'm not entirely sure about the spelling yet, but I think that's right. It's a good compromise between "obsoleet" and "obso1337."

What I'm less sure of is the definition and usage. Is it something which was cutting edge 10 minutes ago, but has already become outdated? Is it something cool and retro? Either works, but I'm tending towards the latter for now. Something like Arcade Legends, perhaps. I'm not sure.

Or maybe it's both. Can it be both? Context-sensitive, maybe? I don't know. What do you say out there in TV land+?

Anyway, I think that's about it for now. Need to go get organized and do stuff and maybe even pack. Something more productive, anyway.

* At least, I'm pretty sure it's new. There's always the chance this is a subconscious memory surfacing as a new idea. But I don't think so.
