Warning: Freaky stuff about Alanis. Must get this out of my head, but if you don't want to read about icky stuff involving her, don't read beneath the cut. Also, if you don't know who Alanis is, don't bother.
From IMDB's page on Alanis:
Born: 1 June 1974
...she moved to LA at age 19. On June 13th 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was released by Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis had found an autobiographical, extremely personal way to write songs.
Alanis admitted to US Weekly that "Hands Clean" from her 'Under Rug Swept' album is about an affair that she had with a man 29 years old when she was just 14 years old. Their relationship lasted 5 years.
From their bio of Dave Coulier ("Uncle Joey" on Full House, host and voice of the Jackalope on "World's Funniest Videos," other minor roles):
Born: 21 September 1959
He has said he is the person Alanis Morissette is singing about in her song "You Ought to Know".
First lover of Alanis Morissette - they met at a celebrity hockey game.
1974 - 1959 = 15.
29 - 14 = 15.
14 + 5 = 19.
So... Alanis started out writing bubblegum pop (Find The Right Man, Human Touch, An Emotion Away, Can't Deny, etc.) . In her early teens. When she was dating a man twice her age (for a while there, they were both on Nickelodeon - "You Can't Do That On Television" and "Out Of Control"). Their relationship lasted 5 years, at which point, she was 19 and he was 34. They broke up. She moved to LA and started writing this really bitter and angry stuff (like "You Outta Know")... About goofy semi-obscure (and now very creepy) comedian, Dave Coulier (who, BTW, claims to personally respond to email sent via his webpage).
Ewwwww.
Of other Alanis random interest (seen on her IMDB trivia page):
Has met Maverick Records boss Madonna only a few times. When Jagged Little Pill hit the 1 million sales mark, Madonna gave Alanis platinum nail polish to celebrate. In March 1999, Madonna gave her a $49,000 Tiffany's bracelet for her success.
Phoned Mother Teresa the night before she died wanting to volunteer, but she was sleeping. Not wanting to wake her, Alanis said she would call back at a later time.

So Uncle Joey was a pervert, eh? Kind of disconcerting considering all his years on Full House. (A show that plays in reruns several times a day at my house ... my 11 year old has discovered it in syndication and loves it.) I never would have guessed he had it in him. (Though I've also heard that Bob Saget, who played the dad, Danny, on the show, was a much more "adult" comic in his stand-up shows, completely different from his perfect, Mr. Uptight, role on television. I guess that's why they call it acting. ;))
I have Jagged Little Pill on my iPod ... it's great workout music. And you just know I'm going to be thinking about this next time I play it, LOL. Oy, Uncle Joey, get out of my head!

Mind you, if she hadn't met the man, I doubt she'd be well-known now anyway. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't. She was small-time, she would have stayed small-time, no matter how talented she was/is.
...I'm fairly certain this story isn't common knowledge on your side of the border, but it sure is up here and it pretty much explains why some of us here have lost much of respect for this person.
