A tweet from Neil Gaiman pointed me to a nifty fundraising project by Patrick Rothfuss. It's all explained in and linkified from this post on his blog, but the short version is that he's raising money for Heifer International, a charity that helps starving families in developing countries by (among other things) giving them livestock. If ever there was a gift that keeps on giving, it'd be a sheep, which can provide milk and wool for years, raising an entire family's standard of living.
Make a donation through the link on that page, and 50% of it will be matched by Rothfuss. For every $10 you donate, you'll also get one virtual lottery ticket with a chance to win some pretty cool books (and possibly a piece of a meteorite, to compliment Gaiman's Stardust). There's also an auction, as well as some books and stuff you can buy directly.
Fundraiser started in December, and ends Jan 15.
