I haven't been much of a friend lately. Or blog community member. Or whatever. I haven't been posting, haven't been commenting, having been reading as closely as perhaps I should (though I have been reading, and did end up going to at least skip=100), haven't been responding to comments. Sorry about that. I don't really know what to do about it, but I'd like to try.

Meantime (and perhaps a help in getting the blogging ball rolling again)... I came across an interesting meme from

mizkit. I wanted to pass that along. Maybe give it a go myself, though no guarantees. Could be good and fun if it works out, and I think several of you might enjoy doing it yourselves:

Oh, that's an interesting mutation of the "tell me about a story I've never written, and I'll tell you a sentence/para from that story" meme. This one's got some really imaginative bits to it. And it's so sad that no one's commented on it, so let's see if I can try it. (Oh, this is going to be fun! I get to imagine I've just read a fic that doesn't exist, lol.)

Title: Better Late Than Never?
Fdk: I loved the occupations you had Clark and Lois in! Sheer brilliance. They totally *worked* but I'd never have dreamed them up in a million years. I think you did a good job keeping them still "in character". Lois is still Lois, even if she's not a reporter.

One thing I wondered about was why Lex didn't appear in the fic more. I could see how he could have been worked in, and posed more of a threat to the couple. But I guess they had enough to deal with just trying to get to know each other, and it doesn't help when Clark's got Bureau 39 on his tail.

Anyway, I hope you post a sequel soon. We haven't gotten to see them married yet, and I can't imagine their lives are all THAT dull even after marriage (it IS Lois and Clark we're talking about *g*). Let me know if you get around to it. :)

There's my fdk for the imaginary fic. :D Feel free to tell all of the above, if you are so inspired. (Granted, this may not be the sort of fic you would ever write, but it's the first thing that popped into mind.) I really got into this--it's an amazingly fun meme to do, and I didn't know how much fun it was till I got in the middle of it.

Well, Clark as a professional bodyguard wasn't much of a stretch, really. And, of course, once you think about that, Lois's "occupation" followed naturally. I mean, I didn't want to get into Whitney Houston "Bodyguard" territory (and even if Lois does have an excellent singing voice, she needed to have a more intellectually challenging career). So you take her bossy nature and add in the need for her to be a public figure (so as to require a bodyguard), and it's not so hard to come up with the idea of her being the "top banana" of a small country. (Having the country's economy driven by Sam Lane's kooky inventions was just an added bonus.)

As for Lex... I suppose I could have made more of his plot to take over Labbra Largo, but I needed to balance the threat from Lois's side with Bureau 39 on Clark's side. And to mirror that relationship with L&C's - our heroes' initial conflict and mistrust fading into romance and teamwork even as the villains' initial attempts at partnership (once they run into each other, of course) gradually dissolve into chaos and betrayal. At least, that was the idea. But I never was very good at fleshing out A-plots, truth to tell.
