Preverbial: That state (as when one is first waking up or a toddler still learning to speak) when you're not yet ready to form complete sentences.

Well, I have a word for it, yes. It's not officially a word. But I think it works. Except, as mentioned above, for its fatal flaw - four syllables are definitely too many to use during the preverbial hours of the morning...
