So... yeah.

My grandfather just died.

He'd passed out a couple weeks back. Dad brought him back with CPR, he was in the hospital overnight, came home, and everything was fine. Today, he seemed a little more tired than usual. Otherwise normal. Then he passed out. Mom tried CPR. Got a heartbeat... but I don't think he ever woke up again. They took him to the hospital, got him into the ER, and then called it about 10 minutes later.

So... Don't think I'll be going to Florida this week, after all. (We were supposed to drive down to get the apartment ready for him, and he was supposed to fly down next week.)

Not really sure what else to say just now.

Well, I can say that he had a long (100+, we believe) life. With a loving daughter and son-in-law, three grandkids, and three great-grandkids. And the dog adored him, too. And he went quietly. I mean, there was the CPR and the house full of police and rescue squad people and Mom going nuts and all that... but he wasn't awake for that part. And I think that's a good thing.

I'm so sorry, Paul! {{{hugs}}}

Sounds like he had a good life and, as you said, he went quietly. That should be of some consolation to your family. Also, treasure the memories you have of him. I never met my grandfathers and I'm always a bit envious of those who could love and be loved by theirs. :)

You're in my thoughts.

So sorry to hear that. ((((hugs))))

Ditto to what the others said - I'm glad he had a long, full life and that he got to go quietly.

If there's anything I can do...

Aww, Paul, I'm so sorry to hear that. :( It's nice to know he had a good life, though.

I wish you and your family all the best in this difficult time.

Hugs,
Anna.
