can we get pics of you in that hat?? Pretty please? :)

Well, far be it from me to refuse such a simple and heartfelt request from such a lovely young lady.

But she also said:

Picturing that bugs-bunny-ears hat made me laugh. Sounds like the kind of thing you can't wear while keeping a straight face :))

Which wasn't really a challenge, but sounded enough like one that I decided to read it that way.

(Yes, that's my room. And, as always, if there's anything you're wondering about, go ahead and ask.)

Wow, you look supremely unamused ;)

I have to admit... I'm a little bit scared now. (Scared?/Who wouldn't be scared of a man in bunny ears who looks like he's going to kick your ass?/Good point.)

Yes. And the three Mickey Mouse hats. And the jester's cap. And the "PROPELLERHEAD" beanie. And...

Very scary. Yes. It's what I do. I'm... uhm... not Batman. Really.

Wow, Paul. You look a lot younger than I thought you were. I guess I equated your seniority on the Boards with seniority in life, for some subconscious, weird, inexplicable reason. =)

Funny pic! *g*

You look a lot younger than I thought you were.

But that's pretty much what he won the hat for. XD

Fun photo, Paul! :)

See ya,
Anna.

As Anna said... that's exactly how I got the hat in the first place (as explained last entry). I'm 29. I just look younger than I am. Haven't really aged physically in the last decade or so.

Or did you think I had seniority?

[identity profile] ladymirth.livejournal.com 2007-10-22 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh? No what I mean is, I somehow got the idea in my head that you were as old as Tank, while interacting with you on the boards. Then I saw your pic and realised, "OMG! He's quite young!". =)

But to a 20-year-old, 29 seems like green old age, you know, Paul. ;-D

Yeah, yeah. I'm an old man. Certainly feels like it some days...

But a good chunk of the "old guard" is my age or younger. Kaylle, Tracey, BanAnna, Sara Kraft...

I guess that's one of the things about the internet. Makes age a lot less important.

You look very angry. The hat if frelling adorable, though.

And, really, 'not Batman' my butt!

Crap. Did I screw that up again? I've got to be more careful about wearing the right belt with my civilian clothes.

Uhm, I mean...

That's just a clever disguise. I'm still not Batman. Really. The belt and shirt are just to throw you off the scent.

AMAZING hat!!! :)

Nooo! My one weakness!

[identity profile] d-phoenix-angel.livejournal.com 2007-10-23 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, I gotta ask, how many times did you burst out laughing while trying to keep such a frighteningly straight face?? :)

And may I just say, you missed a great opportunity to get some amusement into your system. If I owned that hat, I'd wear it all the time, just to induce a near-permenent smile on my face and the good mood that goes with it. Think about it! A hat that when you wear it makes you laugh/amused/happy. They should freakin' market it as such. Happy-hat! :-p
And you ruined it all by taking it as a challenge and making THAT face.
Though, the "ruinment" didn't apply to me. I'm still laughing my ass off at that pic! Making that face only makes you look more like a Loonie Toons character! :-p
Except, if you were laughing in the pic, we'd be laughing with you. Since you're not, we've got no choice but to laugh AT you! HAHA!

Seriously, that hat, combined with the batman gear... too much! Keeping such an "unamused" look... just makes it that much funnier.
Okay, that's the limit of how much I can make fun of a person without worrying about how they'd take it, so, err... I hope you know it's all in good fun, and I mean no offense.

Thanks BUNCHES for posting that though. It seriously made my night!

I cracked a little smile a time or two while getting ready. (I did five takes before I got the last pic, where my belt was straight and all the hats were clearly visible.) But once I hit the shutter button (on 10-sec timer), I channeled the Batman and kept my face stern. So... zero.

Probably a lot easier, though, since I was looking at the camera rather than into the face of a laughing person.

And may I just say, you missed a great opportunity to get some amusement into your system.

No, no, no. It's more amusing seeing your reaction to the serious face.

If I owned that hat, I'd wear it all the time, just to induce a near-permenent smile on my face and the good mood that goes with it.

Hmm. You know, I hadn't really thought about it until that exchange in your journal, but... You want it? As you can see on the bed behind me, I've got more silly hats than this one. (I was going to say "enough silly hats," but really, is there any such thing?) Besides, my main silly hat has always been the beanie. It's the one that amuses me most, and it was a gift from my sisters.

That's the hat I wore around campus on that day in the middle of finals week when I was exhausted and stressed and needed a pick-me-up. Wrote out a sign that said something like "Homework got you down? Don't worry, be happy!" put that around my neck, put the hat on, and went out to class. Got a lot of funny looks and smiles, which really helped things go better. And one guy in the elevator. Middle-aged. Boring clothes. I think he was part of the administration/staff.

Guy, sympathetically: Some kind of frat initiation thing, right?
Me: :-D No.
Guy: ... Oh.

Priceless.

Though, the "ruinment" didn't apply to me. I'm still laughing my ass off at that pic!

That, my dear, was exactly the point.

Seriously, that hat, combined with the batman gear... too much!

I specifically changed into that (belt and shirt) for the picture.

Okay, that's the limit of how much I can make fun of a person without worrying about how they'd take it, so, err... I hope you know it's all in good fun, and I mean no offense.

Beanie copter, clown nose, collection of silly hats, Batman gear and expression, 15-year-old sign over the bed saying "Shhh... If bed is occupied, you are probably witnessing a kid napping." ... All that, and she's still afraid to make fun of me. *shakes head*

In your defence, I suppose you do know my more serious and contemplative side better.

I enjoy making people happy. Especially when I'm goofing off. Laugh it up. I consider it positive feedback.

Thanks BUNCHES for posting that though. It seriously made my night!

Now that's what I want to hear!

*stifles more laughter*

Hey, don't hold it in! More fun to let it out. Besides... Holding it in? Not good for your kishkas.
