Nobel Prize. Also, Twitter.
There's an interview in the NYT with the chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize committee. It's short, but worth the read if you're at all interested.
Highlights: He says the prize was not given (and is never given) as a statement against anyone (including Bush), that the vote for Obama was unanimous, that it was given to him because he has worked to reduce global tensions (such as between Muslims and the West), that he himself is not liberal but centrist, and that, yes, the Nobel prizes for literature does seem to be given out to very obscure authors.
In completely other news... I have much to learn about Twitter (assuming I want to keep diving into that world). Rachel Maddow's site says that you can connect with fellow fans by Tweeting #maddow. So, after some poking around, I ended up adding a "maddow" search column to Tweet Deck. Friday night (my first day on Twitter), I saw an interesting tweet with an "@maddow" in it. Decided to reply with a joke, figuring it'd be seen by others with similar search columns, and we could have some fun. Instead... I ended up in an awkward conversation with a guy who was very confused as to why a random stranger had replied from out of the blue with such an odd message. Guess I'll have to alter the search field. Ah well. At least he appreciated my Twitter name (once I explained it, anyway...).

We're Scatterbeams over there. And we're public. We get random replies a LOT. Someone poked us the other day to tell us to stop swearing because it wasn't nice. We poked back and told them very politely that it was our twitter and we would swear if we wanted. But you have been followed nonetheless.
