hatman | (no subject)

1. So, I've had this idea for a while. The local radio station does 80s programs. 8-9pm on weekdays, and 7-12 on Saturdays. I was going to call up, and it would go something like this (depending on the DJ's responses and how much airtime she felt like burning):

Me: "Hello. This is Batman. I want to thank you for remembering a time before I talked like this." (First half done in proper Batman voice, italics done as Christian Bale. As I explained in this audio clip from last September.)

DJ: "Well... you're welcome. Where are you calling from?"

Me: "Well, if you must know... I'm in New Jersey."

DJ: "New Jersey?"

Me: "For sone reason, the Toxic Avenger is on Broadway now. [rolleye voice] Someone has to watch over the 'Garden State.'"

And then I'd request Batdance, by Prince (go watch the vid on YouTube or something if you haven't seen it). And it would be fun. And I could post the recording here so we could laugh together.

I finally found the time (and the nerve) to do it tonight. Weekly Skype gaming session with my old college buddies hasn't started yet, parents are out of the house, Saturday Night 80s is on.

I called up. I asked if I could do it. Spoke the first line.

DJ: "... Yeah, that's not going to happen."

Me: "Oh. Well, thanks anyway. I would still like to hear Batdance, by Prince." (After the initial disappointment, I kept my voice friendly and cheerful.)

DJ: [flatly] "Sorry. We don't have it."

Me: "You don't? Darn. Thanks any-"

DJ: *click*

*sigh*

2. In other news, thanks for the comments on last entry. It's not as bad as it could have been. And it's mostly done. Just frustrating dealing with the programs that won't reinstall properly or have lingering glitches.

3. I'm having an odd trouble getting back into the swing of Dreamwidth. I had a lot of positive energy and momentum built up, but after the break, I'm more or less at full stop. I'm not sure what's wrong, really. I just can't seem to motivate myself to start it all up again. And all the new friendships and acquaintanceships were only beginning to develop. Doesn't help that I've been having a frustrating time with my other efforts to move forward in a positive direction. Now I'm just tired and... stalled out.

Maybe next week will be better.

That's pretty funny. It's a shame the DJ wouldn't play along. Do you do other impressions?

Well, there is the small issue of copyright law. But yeah, disappointing. Glad you like, anyway. :)

And... well... I do a decent Marvin the Martian. And while I don't have the knack with accents that I had as a child, I can still pull off a couple.

Bah, that DJ has no sense of humour. *sigh*

And sorry to hear that you're still having trouble getting back on Dreamwidth. I remember how excited you had been about it. :(

*sigh* Yeah. (Though there is the little annoying factor known as "copyright law," so she's not entirely to blame.)
